Best Ways To Fold Your Socks

Socks are undeniably an important part of our wardrobe. They are timeless, seasonless staples, and every family surely owns at least a dozen of them. While they are a tiny piece of clothing and we buy socks online all the time, organizing socks is the most challenging of all.

Merely creating a separate sock drawer and dumping them inside isn’t enough. Early in the morning, while we get ready, we want our pair of socks together rather than looking through all of them before bringing the two matching ones together.

How to fold sock? There are several ways in which socks can be folded depending on the kind of organization you prefer and the amount of time you have at your disposal every day. While we will list five of those sock-folding methods, you can pick out the best way to organize socks that suits you.

1. One Inside The Other

How to fold ankle socks? This method works best for small-sized socks , such as cute ankle length socks, no-show or kids socks. This one is a time saver and will keep your socks intact together.

How to:

  • Simply pick the two socks and stuff one inside the other.

2. Military Style Method - Folding long socks

This method is one of the most effective ways to keep both your socks intact until you grab them and wear. This one is best for travel purposes and will create little sock balls for you to just throw in.

How to:

  • Lay both socks on a flat surface, with one sock on top of the other.
  • Start rolling the socks tightly together from the toes up.
  • When you reach the top, pull the outer cuff behind, over the top and around the roll.
  • Tuck in the parts sticking out.

3. Roll Method

This is a very quick and easy method to fold any kind of socks with no stretching involved. However, the socks won’t stay together like other methods if you move things around in your drawer too much.

How to:

  • Lay both socks on a flat surface, with one sock on top of the other.
  • Roll the socks from the toes up keeping them together.

4. Square Method - Organizing sock drawer

This is one of our most favourite methods of folding socks. With this method, your drawer will look very organized with stacks of cool socks arranged neatly and not an inch of space will be wasted. The cherry on the top? Well, no stretching is involved too!

How to:

  • Place the two socks perpendicularly one over the other, both with heals up such that they make a cross shape.
  • Flip the bottom socks' toe-up and tuck it in on the other side.  Then fold over the same socks' cuff.
  • Repeat the same with the other sock. You should now have a square with two sock cuffs sticking out.
  • Grab the first cuff, fold it over, and tuck it into the pocket. Flip everything over, and tuck the remaining cuff in the other pocket.

5. Flip and Tuck Method

If you are someone who only wants to keep their socks together without giving too much time into folding them, then go for this one.

How to:

  • Lay both socks on a flat surface or simply grab them in one of your hands.
  • Take one cuff and flip it inside out over the other cuff.

All the above methods are great to fold different types of socks. Which one you would pick is up to your needs and preference. So, go ahead, fold ‘em together and avoid losing your socks in future.
